Visit to Mango orchard in Srinivasapura,Kolar District, Karnataka,India.

Dear buyers,

I visited Srinivasapura yesterday i.e 27th April 2011 to find out the real picture of mango availability for the upcoming season. Though it was a feast to the eyes to know the varieities of mangoes grown in that belt, it was also a bit disappointment to know about the less availability of Alphonso mangoes due to early fallen flowers and insufficient rainfall . However other varieties like Banish or Baiganpally mangoes and totapuri is abundantly available this season.

The exhibit of pictures are of different varieties and in about 20 days time the mangoes will be everywhere.

Exhibit 1: Banish Mango(Code:00B)

Exhibit 2: Sendura Tree & Fruit (Code: 00S)

Exhibit 3 : Alphonso Mango (Code:00A)

Exhibit 4 : Mallika Mango (Code: 00M)

There has been a research effort from the farmers and the horticulture department,Bengaluru and a new grafted variety of hybrid mango from Alphonso and totapuri has been grown in one of our known farmers land and it was a wow moment! What a lingering taste this mango has. The name has been given by farmers as 'Marigowda' Mango in the name of the beloved horticulture director. If the farmers can grow this variety in large quantities i think it can beat Alphonso variety in the market. U have to see it to belive it!

Exhibit 5: Grafted variety of Alphonso & Totapuri!
